An article<\/a> that recently appeared on cnetnews examines the free-market economy that has established itself around Everquest. After studies carried out by a professor of economics it was concluded that if Norrath (EQ universe) were a country, its per-capital gross national product would place it as the 77th wealthiest country in the real world. Even in a virtual world, supply and demand are the foundation on which an economy can and will evolve it seems<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Nach einem von einem Professor f\u00fcr Wirtschaftswissenschaften durchgef\u00fchrten Studien w\u00fcrde Norrath (die EQ-Welt), w\u00e4re sie ein real existierender Staat, nach seinem Bruttosozialprodukt den 77. Platz unter den reichsten L\u00e4ndern der Erde einnehmen. Sogar in einer virtuellen Welt scheint es also das Prinzip von Angebot und Nachfrage zu sein, auf dem sich eine Wirtschaft entwickeln kann und wird.<\/p>\n

Shattering the happy end somewhat is the announcement that Yahoo auctions and eBay, some nine months after Sony forbid the sale<\/a> of virtual items, have followed suit this month. Everquest has joined their Verified Rights Owners Program (VERO)<\/a> and as such any items they own property rights to will be deleted. Searching „Everquest“ on eBay just now brings up plenty of 2nd hand CDs and games but no game items so it seems, true to the policy, they“re purged. Search for Diablo II items though and it“s a completely different story. The EULA for DII seems to state that characters and items are the property of Blizzard, which would preclude their sale, so perhaps we will soon see Blizzard following suit by joining the VeRO group as well<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Die Idylle wird gest\u00f6rt duch die Ank\u00fcndigung, dass Yahoo auctions und eBay – 9 Monate nachdem Sony den Handel mit virtuellen Gegenst\u00e4nden verboten hat<\/a> – diesen Monat endlich handeln werden. Everquest wurde in das sog. Verified Rights Owners Program (VeRO)<\/a> aufgenommen, so dass alle virtuellen Gegenst\u00e4nde, die gegen echtes Geld angeboten werden, gel\u00f6scht werden.
\nSucht man bei eBay nach „Everquest“ werden nur massenhaft gebrauchte CDs und Spiele aber keine virtuellen Items mehr als Ergebnis geliefert, was den anschein erweckt, dass diese – der neuen Politik entsprechend – gel\u00f6scht wurden. Sucht man allerdings nach Diablo II Items ist das eine ganz andere Sache. Die EULA von D2 sagt eigentlich aus, dass Charaktere und Items das Eigentum von Blizzard sind, wodurch ihr Handel untersagt w\u00e4re, so dass Blizzard vielleicht auch bald der sog. VeRO Gruppe beitreten wird.<\/b><\/p>\n
