Seit Warden vor gut einer Woche wieder einmal zugeschlagen hat, ist erneut die Diskussion der Betroffenen sowie Nichtbetroffenen aufgeflammt, dass das Scannen durch Warden nicht legal sei. In einem aktuellen Diskussions-Thread<\/a> in den Battle.net Foren wird an Argumenten alles aufgefahren, was zur Verf\u00fcgung steht, und kr\u00e4ftig mit Ger\u00fcchten und Tatsachen vermischt. Die Palette reicht vom Abgleich der Hash Werte \u00fcber das Ausspionieren der Emails und besuchten Websites bis zum Vorwurf, dass eine gesonderte Zustimmungserkl\u00e4rung mit Patch 1.11b vom Nutzer vorliegen m\u00fcsste, mit der Wardens Vorgehensweise abgesegnet wird. \u00dcber den Vorwurf Spyware hatten wir bereits in einer News im Oktober berichtet, inklusive Stellungnahme eines Blizzard Offiziellen.<\/p>\n

Much of the information being accepted as fact are assumptions and misinformation on how our detection methods work, what information they collect, and what information is actually reported back to us. Much of the information being accepted as fact is provided by individuals or websites with motives other than to provide helpful information to consumers. Our detection methods thwart hack attempts; I don“t think it“s crazy to think that those who would use or create those hacks would attempt to have our detection methods removed by any means necessary; even if that means exaggerating or creating false information.<\/p>\n

As stated previously our detection methods are very similar to other detection methods used in many games, such as PunkBuster. A detection method used in games such as Battlefield 2, Counter Strike, America“s Army, Far Cry, Doom 3, Call of Duty, Rainbow Six 3, and many others. If you have played any of these games online your system has likely already undergone similar detection methods. I think it“s interesting that our specific detection methods are being singled out while others remain widely accepted as necessary to keep the games fair and safe from use of cheats. Maybe it is a testament to the popularity of our games.<\/p>\n

I don“t feel it is necessary for me to try to prove our detection methods are harmless, this will be the last comment I make on the subject.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In diesem Statement offenbart MicahW nicht, wie Warden nun detailliert vorgeht, um die schwarzen Schafe auszusondieren. Er weist lediglich darauf hin, dass viele dieser „Verschw\u00f6rungstheorien“ aus unzuverl\u00e4ssigen Quellen stammen und als Fakten hingestellt werden, vor allem von denen, die von Hack Detection unangenehm betroffen sind.<\/p>\n

Au\u00dferdem ist der Einsatz der Hack Detection „Warden“ nichts Neues. Solche Verfahren werden bereits seit langem in diversen anderen Online Spielen verwendet, um ehrliche Spieler vor Betr\u00fcgereien zu sch\u00fctzen. Da hat sich bisher noch niemand beklagt.
