Hier ist ein kleines Video um euch auf das Thema einzustimmen

Chris Metzen führt uns in seiner Rede durch eine illustrierte und natürlich sehr subjektive Definition davon was Geek ist.

Geek is:

9. action figures with the Kong Fu grip
10. Frank Miller reminding us all, how terrefying Badman realy can be
11. remembering that there is in fact no spoon
12. considering that there was not just Top Gun that made us want to be fighter pilots as little kids
13. learning that with great power comes great responsebility
14. being terrified during late night Doom-2-sessions
15. giving probs to the undesputed badass chickens in univers
16. This Guy dispense indiscriminate justice with his magic hammer
17. learning that home realy is, were the heart is
18. exploring the vast wonderlands of everquest for the first time with your friends
19. holding the line against imposible odds
20. watching the graceful Navi running and hunting across the twilight field of Pandora, yadda yadda yadda
21. knowing that resistence is never futile
22. sitting around the table with your best friends, ? with ? paper and funny dices and imaginating ? worlds of your own
23. the near perfect cinimatic realisation of the story that started it all
24. watching your kids, looking at Star Wars for the first time and wondering if it will transform their little imagination like it did yours
25. is believing that there is a hero inside all of us, waiting to come forward

Was bedeutet Geek für euch?

In einigen Situationen kann man das Wort gut als "Streber" übersetzen.
Ähnich dem Begriff Nerd sind mit Geeks Leute gemeint, die ein hohes Interesse an wissenschaftlichen oder technischen Themen haben. Im Internet fallen sie durch hohe Fachkenntnisse auf.

Auf Diablo 2 bezogen wäre ein Geek wirklich jemand, der sich als Hobby so lange mit Skills übeschäftigt hat, dass er viele Skill-Berechnungen und Synergien im Kopf hat.

Geeks wirst du wohl vor Allem unter Moddern und Wiki-Autoren finden. Großteils scheinen sie Männer zu sein. Sie passen gut in Simon Baron-Cohens "male brain" Modell.
