And now for something completely different...

Sounds like a real fighter, our smoky. Hope you won't have to fight your own body some time.

Riven reminded me that I had rowing at school for 3 years. Nothing professional of course. The only sports I spent more time than a ususal hobby was volleyball what brought me to the german "Verbandsliga" and to the orthopaedist as well.

The main reason for table tennis was a wonderful blond girl in my age. *sigh*

 I#m noit a fighter like that. I love the mentality in the background of this arts. In my eyes I do an art of fighting. Fighting is it on competitions, but in our train-center it's art.

Hi everybody,

although this Threat is running for a while I would like to talk about the main idea in the starting post again.

proposal for an english or even multilingual subforum.

First I want to ask if someone could post the link to the proposal, cause I were not able to find it.

Second I would like to say that I think it is a brilliant idea to establish an english or multilingual subforum. Also I dont get the point of the staff that it is to much effort. All you need is 2-3 moderators, who are good / native speakers.

I hope my thaughts are still of intrest.

Well, there would have to be some content first, i guess. Starting the subforum from scratch should be difficult without some basis.

Hmm, sports.... Iused to be a professional oarsmen, a rower. I did rowing for the last ten years, after a while professionally. But you really cannot maintain a healthy living just from that sport. But at least it got me into an Ivy League University in the end. I still do rowing, called crew here, but not as professional as I used to in the last years. Along with rowing I did a few years of Inlinespeedskating as a form of recreation from rowing. Marathons on skates a hell lot of fun.

Ivy league? wow, I'm impressed!
which one?

so, have to fix my bike :/

The propsal: Multilinguale Seite (be careful, it's german).

An english subforum could be made very easyly, but with french, spanish or other languages it would be a lot harder. Try to find native spanish speakers in the mod club.

As for the content: I doubt we have enough content für a complete subforum right now. You could open threads like "strategy questions", "off topic" and a few more and maybe have a link list to english guides but that's it for the moment.

And then there is the question, who will be in there. All german users will write their questions into the corersponding german threads/forums so we would have the forum for a handful of native speakers.

One reason I opened this thread is the question, how many people are interested in foreign languages.

Thank you:kiss:

I think it has to begin with an english subforum. If that is going well we can think about other languages.

I also think that enough content will be made if such a subforum exist.

I think if an english subforum exists, it needs some advertisment on the mainpage.

hm I don't want to cross your plans, but I think we would have too much competition in Forums here

Think of the Phrozenkeep, there are also Subforums foer generall d2 discussion, its a place not only for modmakers but also for people all over the world ;)

Omg, how rude of me. I did not answer THIS

"hie thee hither" is one of the hardest.
mostly you just don't understand because you just don't understand the meaning of the phrases ("don't be so white at heart" means "don't be such a coward").

but read it, some parts are just beautiful, it's just gread fun to read english like that. but i have to admit that i was the only one in my advanced course who got nearly everything. the others had SERIOUS problems with the classtest, i finished after 2 hours with 1900 words :>

Well, if you say so... I give it a try. I hope i do not get any serious problems with that. I think you can understand most of this phrases in connection with the situation, right? I had several english books and many phrases that i did not understand by itself. However, it is always easier for me if i know the context and with that, i can understand nearly all phrases, even if they are major problems with the vokabular. So it should be fine. And if this book is so beatiful as you say, even better.

@Smoky Kupster

I have heavy asthma, as well as heavy allergy to nature in almost all forms. So it is definitely hard for me to execute any sport. In addition, i have a weak chest. I feel it in almost all sport lessons, that my lung function is not doing well. In fact, i cannot breath at all, when it comes to endurance run. However, when it comes to volleyball or basketball, i am, in fact, one of the bests in the team. Fortunately, my body is well-shaped (well, it seems likely :D ).

Amazon Basin and the official bnet forums are also english and will compete against a new forum.

But I still think it is worth to try.

Worst case would be if the new forum is dead before it starts.

First of all, hey there ;)

Some of you might already know me. As for the others : you can call me LEech. I'm French and 21 years old. I've been playing diablo for 3 years now.

So, on this topic :

I do think there could be a "market" for an english subforum that appeals to european people.
The websites you listed are all american. I don't think that people who write in bad english and play on europe realm find these websites very close to their needs.
As for europe, i think every country has its own big D2 forum, but some countries don't, or those sites suffer from lack of content. PlanetDiablo in english could provide them with that, and is already very often linked in spanish or french forums that i know. That is a sign that this forum here has something the other european forums have not, and this is why I believe there is a target group for that.
The big problem would be attracting this new and foreign audience to a german website.

Hehe, tank you. The only two schol that I thought about applying were Harvard and Columbia. In the end I prefered to live in Manhattan, so I chose Columbia. Its nice here, but the professors can be extremley hard in terms of workload for every class. Their class is always the most important one...

About an english Forum: I agree that is is worth a try. Just a testrun cannot be that hard. If it does not work out we have tried at least. I would like to help building that forum if it ever comes to be constructed and would volunteer as a mod for it, if any are needed. My english should be well enough for it, since I do all my studies in that language at the moment and live in an english speaking country, well ok, english and spanish speaking country.

Definitely worth trying. It's not too much work to set it up and a mod (or 2) can surely be a part of this. And if not, there are at least two volunteers here in this thread ( :hy: Riven).

The forum does not have to compete with AB, phrozenkeep and whatever is out there. It's just a way to complete PlanetDiablo.eu a bit more. Maybe we could even translate the whole main page to English. But that's not the point. To my mind it would be nice to say to someone from.. let's say Finland or Sweden "you can look this up and ask questions in the English forum section of PlanetDiablo.eu".

Just a bit away from this line: I'm considering to study in Maastricht. The reputation is great but anyone here with personal experiences? Would be nice to know ^^

Oh, that's a really hard handicap :) BTW: I saw just now, that you are the guy, who inspirated me in my guide-structure for the IK-MF :D

EDIT @ DeLa: You got the reason, what i wanted to reach with my proposal.

In your proposal thread there already came up the idea of a clan forum. It is easy to create, some people get "pseudo" mods there and room as much as you like for saving guide in english.

So if we are able to attract more people to this thread we may think about such a solution.
