And now for something completely different...

Um, come again? I'm sorry I didn't understand that...

you pronounce "H" like this:

äitsch

What he wants to say is that there's no written expression for the spoken "H"
I'm just wondering who would be so crazy as to write something like that!? Is must be some kind of direct speech in a novel/essay/story...?

oh, goo god, tv. dont know how long I hanvn't touched that thing... there just always seems something better to do, like gaming, being with friends or rowing.

oh, by the way drago your new avatar is very irritating...

you row? where?

I am a bit more sober now. I love reading my postings the next morning after getting shitfaced, always nice the decrypt

I row in switzerland at Grasshoppers Club Zurich. But I'm kind of "Meh"

decrypt is right, I'd almost have to call a friggin cryptologist.

And? How's the weather in new york?

Its fucking cold right here. At the monet luckily above 0 C, but at night the wind and the cold is biting hard, next week were to get down to -13 C...

Oh, Zurich, then you must at least heard of a friend of mine who coaches aat the Seeclub, Berhard Stomporowski. Does that name ring a bell?

Yes, that rings a bell. Not that I like him, he's a little too freaky for me, but yes I know him. He let the strongest Junior of the Seeclub row in the b-Series in stead of the A-Series. but oh well, I know worse ;)

Are you from Zurich or why do you know him?

I was just curious how "eitsh" was spelled - and my mother could enlighten me ;) . She is just better than my English teacher in a number of respects.

Where could you use it? I WANTED to use it a few times in this thread, to emphasize something. But I didn't know how to write it out, if an H was included, and had to settle for a mode of expression I didn't stand behind. It was frustrating...so I resolved to ask (and forgot it, as I wrote, about 33 times).

eitsh?

ok, fine by me, I don't know that kind of stuff, but THAT looks really weird. I would have said something along the lines of: ache or aiche. (whereas the first means something else and the second looks kind of dumb.)

You DO pronounce it like age, so ache is out, which is pronounced like äik. Eitsh is how it is written in phonetics, but as I can't reproduce those sings (and don't want to), this is as close as it gets.

age is with a vocal dsch, whereas h is a toneless tsch, but ok its the closest you'll get

No, I come from the city that used to be the westpole ^^. Now you have to guess which one that is. Stompo is a friend of mine, who I used to know for a few years already. From time to time i did practice together with his wife Katrin Rutschow. But then he moved to Zurich to coach the Seeclub. Have last seen him at the u23 world champinships in 2006

werspole? as in "westpolen" or as in northpole?
[x] for second as 1st doesn't makoe sense...

I don't know him well. Do you also know Frank Rogall?

Do not know frank Rogall.

There is one City that has the special 'skill', that whereever you go from its borders , you will always go somewhere 'east'. This is a trick question by the way, so it is a metaphorical westpole ;)

Oooh, the Queen is coming on site today, so there will be a lot of security measures in place at work.

Something I personally found a bit odd, but people here seem to be used to it: When referring to a member of the Royal family the names are almost never mentioned, it is all about their title. So memorial plates might say "The Duke of Edinburgh placed the foundation stone here", and at some point the Princess Royal visited our building, rather than Prince Philip or Princess Anne.

As btw Prince Philip also is the chancellor of Cambridge university it is one of the rare opportunities where an invitation is issued not to "The Queen and her husband", but rather to "the Chancellor and his wife".

I am off for skiing holidays in Chamonix, France, for the next week, so behave well in my absence!

Snow? What's snow?

In northern germany here we hat enough snow for skiing 10 years before. I like skiing.. The weather here is warm and cloudy... :(

It's getting warmer again...
we were on the water this morning, and well, my fingers are't frozen at all. kind of weird considering it's february

Cold Spring Habor was down to 8°F when I visited. Winter on Long Island are seemingly cold. (as the name implies)
