And now for something completely different...

True, if I wouldn't row, I would just spend more time at the computer.

Johannes barth is back he rowed with GCZ at a regatta in summer and in the sprint regatta in fall. Not sure, if he came, but he meant to row at the swiss indoors.

I'll see how I'll manage, but it should be possible. And I'm not planning on World Championships... but 3 from my training group are going to peking 07 (Junior Rowing world Championships ^^)

Somehow your website is going crazy right now... and spend less time here and more time studying ^^

Damn, when I joined the thread I thaught I became crazy... and very happy, for I found a really nice thread to extend my skills in English...:) I started searching a nice OT-forum spoken in english tongue long ago but I didn't find anything like that...

Ok, to continue your conversation: What is: to row? I could ask my dictionary, but I am very interested how you'll manage it to explain it in English...

Greetings, Teila

Rowing is to move across lakes or rivers via boat. You use paddles (I know that should actually be rudder ;) ) to propell the boat. Hope that makes it clear enough...

Greets,
Mobbel

no, rudder isn't correct either. a rudder is what big ships use to maneuver. the correct term would be "oar".

hmm, the trainer just forbid one of our juniors to train so much, said he trainid too often. his answer was "what only 15 (!!!) times last week :("

Greetings, Teila

The term Rowing is defined by the act or a sport of the motion of propelling a boat by means of muscle strength using skulls or oars.

That would be a dictionairy definition for it. But for me rowing means much more. Rowing a definition of life for me. You become one with the boat and the team. But rowing at a high level is also very hard work, but its great. I took rowing as a refuge in bad times. Being in a well working team can be most gratefying, can be a feeling of flying over the lake or regatta course.

Rowing is life, the rest is just details!

Rowing keeps the truely gifted from ruling the world!

I will think of a better definition some other time

well the non dictionary part is quite nice, sometimes I also find it that way. especially when everything goes wrong you can still go rowing ;)

unless it's ergometer... I don't really like that thing

Like your friends, but love your enemies, and I love the erg....The erg ist your best friend and your worst enemy. But defeating the erg means defeating your inner deamon, which will make you win in the season. I quite enjoy erging at the moment once in a while since the eight we row here is simply agonizing... and on the erg nobody can mess with your stroke.

Ergometer - My Concept of hell!

You see what I meant with It's more interesting like dictionary? Nice definded, Thanks :)

[edit:] edited definated into definded :)

It's definded :P

Indoor Rowing Championships is my definition of hell; bad air, a hunderd ergs and 300 people watching you and the big screen with the times on the back...

And after the german national team probably every eight kind of, well, sucks :D

OK, bya guys I'm off for skiing for a week and after that training camp in spain :P
and I have to do skiff -.-

I'm also looking forward to my ski-weekend in 2 weeks, will be a nice time in Austria... Where do you go to skiing?

Greets, Teila

Is there anyone who has visited a concert of the "Blue Man Group" before? I am working next to the centro theatre in Oberhausen and they will start their show here in march. I wonder if they are worth a look.

Of course I saw them once or twice on TV but that's typically no base to judge a musician.

I don't know them but I want you to know that the card-selling for the Southside starts soon...
I don't really know which bands are going to come, but I'm sure it's going to be a nice Party again... Will you be there, too?

Blue Man Group? Those, who are shown at the Intel commercials?
Not my kind of music, but maybe it's worth for those, who like music the experimental style.

Some of the music is very ncie and some extremely experimental, but I went after x mas and really enjoyed it. My gf gave us the tickets^^. Sitting in the first rows is a bit of an adventure, but I think you will nejoy it.

Blue Man Group? I don't know them. Witch kind of music does they make?

I like outdoor events. When the weather is fine... sunny, 20 degree, that's ok

Now let's see what happened on the weekend...

Schalke is too stupid to become Soccer Champ

German Ski Jumpers can't win anything nowadays

German Film wins an Oscar

Australia forbids light bulbs

Anything I forgot?

German Bishop compares women to breeding machines.

Mobbelsche had to take antibiotics for the first time in his life.

Only 10 more months until Christmas.

Still no case of bird flu (hmm... wondering where it's gone so miraculously^^).

Kurt Beck got even fatter than he was a week before.

The German Green Party still can't position itself in the new "Oh-my-God-we're-all-gonna-die-from-change-of-climate-Panic".

"Oh-my-God-we're-all-gonna-die-from-change-of-climate-Panic" induced by the press.

Panicking people will soon start to build "Oh-my-God-we're-all-gonna-die-from-change-of-climate-Bunkers" and buy stuff to survive the already mentioned "Oh-my-God-we're-all-gonna-die-change-of-climate".

Nothing more so far...

/edit: ....oh, forgot: Industry and Commerce do quite nicely. But no coincidence with the "Oh-my-God-we're-all-gonna-die-from-change-of-climate-Panic".
