Sowohl uns, als auch Blizzard Entertainment haben unzählige eMails erreicht, in denen Spieler versichern, niemals Hacks oder der gleichen genutzt zu haben, aber dennoch sollen ihnen Accounts gesperrt worden sein. Nach einigen Erklärungen haben zumindest die Meisten eingesehen, dass sie doch illegale Programme genutzt haben, für die, die sich dessen immer noch nicht bewusst sind, hier eine Erklärung, die vor Kurzem von Blizzard veröffentlicht wurde.
In response to Tuesdays notice about downloading and using hacks, some of our customers have written in with concerns about being banned from Battle.net for using certain non-cheating third-party programs. In order to clarify our statement and hopefully address these concerns, please note the following:
1) Blizzard Entertainment does not condone the use of any third-party software programs („hacks“) that modify our games.
2) We are not actively seeking to ban players from Battle.net who use non-cheating hacks such as key-remapping programs. However, because we do not control how hacks are implemented or how they function, we cannot guarantee that a player wont be banned for using any particular hack. The safest course of action is not to use third-party hacks.
3) Hacks often contain Trojan code that steals CD keys and passwords. With this information, a person could use one of your accounts, or create an account using your CD key, and then use that account to cheat on Battle.net. A person who has used Trojan code in this way could end up getting your account closed and your CD key banned. In fact, the majority of hacks for Diablo II that Blizzard“s Technical Support department has seen do contain code designed to steal CD keys and account passwords. Technical Support receives countless inquiries from people who have lost their account in this way.
4) Furthermore, Technical Support receives numerous inquiries from people who are having technical problems with their game because they have used a hack. Because we do not support the use of these programs, our ability to help our customers in these cases is greatly impaired.
We do our utmost to keep Battle.net a safe and enjoyable place to play Blizzard games. Downloading and using any third-party program that affects how your game interacts with Battle.net involves risks that you might not even be aware of. We hope that youll continue to support our efforts to make Battle.net cheat-free and take measures to protect your passwords and CD keys from those who would use that information to jeopardize your access to Battle.net.

In den meisten Fällen enthalten die an Blizzard gemeldeten Hacks einen Code zum auslesen des Keys oder von Passwörtern, was der Hauptgrund für alle verlorenen Accounts ist.

Oft erhält der technische Support Anfragen von Spielern, die Probleme mit dem Spiel haben, da sie Hacks benutzt haben. Durch die Haltung von Blizzard gegenüber Hacks und Cheats ist es daher unmöglich diesen Kunden zu helfen.
Wer sich an diese genannten Punkte hält, sollte in der Zukunft keinerlei Probleme haben mit gelöschten oder gehackten Accounts.
