Die Beta naht: Auf der neuen Community-Seite verkündete der Community-Manager Bashiok nun, dass die Presse die ersten Beta-Einladungen erhält. Das bedeutet leider aber keinen Beta-Termin – die Presse wird sich ebenfalls noch weiter gedulden müssen, bis die Beta startet.
We have begun early media and fansite outreach in preparation for the upcoming Diablo III beta test. The email they are receiving clearly states that we do not have a date to announce for the start of the beta test.
While we appreciate the interest in the beta test, we’d like to take this opportunity to caution everyone of potential phishing attempts or scams. Emails from Blizzard Entertainment will NEVER ask you for your password, and if you are selected for participation in the beta test, you won’t need to click any links in any corresponding email that you’d receive from us. When the time comes, players accepted into the beta test will be able to sign in to their account at www.Battle.net and see a Diablo III Beta license as one of their game licenses, as well as the ability to download the beta.

Blizzard warnt damit auch ausdrücklich nochmal vor Phishing-Mails und Leuten, die mit gefälschten Mails an eure Accountdaten herankommen möchten.
Blizzard wird euch nicht nach euren Passwörtern fragen noch werden von Blizzard Beta-Keys verschickt. Wenn ihr Zugang zur Beta erhalten solltet, so wird euch der Zugang direkt in eurem Battle.net Account angezeigt werden.

Wir hakten bei Blizzard nach und uns erreichten weniger erfreuliche Nachrichten: Obige Aussage Blizzards, die Meldungen des cnet Mitarbeiters und Posts im offiziellen battle.net Forum ließen darauf schließen, dass die ersten Beta Keys verschickt würden.
Dem scheint aber nicht so zu sein!
Tobias „gnorog“ Jahn, Associate Community Manager German, bestätigte uns, dass Blizzard lediglich Kontakt zu Presse-battle.net Accounts aufnimmt, um zu überprüfen, ob die Blizzard bekannten Accounts noch aktuell sind. Damit soll sichergestellt werden, dass die Presse die Betakeys auch erhält, sobald sie verschickt werden!
